The University of Music and Drama Hanover

The University traces its origins back to the State School of Music and the Hanover Drama School. In 1950 they merged to form the Academy of Music and Drama, responsibility for which was assumed by the State of Lower Saxony in 1973. Since 1978, the HMTH has had the status of an institution of artistic and academic higher education with the power to confer doctoral degrees. Today, with over 1,200 students from 55 nations, the HMTH possesses a palpable international atmosphere.
